RUWAIS, 28th November, 2018 – H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, has commended the significant role played by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) as a primary economic driver of the UAE.
Sheikh Hamdan made the statements in a tour of Ruwais City, 240 kilometers west of Abu Dhabi city, during which he was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
“The Ruwais City development plan fits within ADNOC’s key role in fuelling the UAE growth for the future,” Sheikh Hamdan said.
He commended the valuable efforts made by ADNOC to transform the City from an industrial oil town to a more liveable and attractive community for families over the coming years, expressing his appreciation of the dedication shown by the company’s teams to ensure the rapid growth of the city.
Sheikh Hamdan was shown around and briefed on a number of projects and services being established to contribute to recruiting national cadres to live and work in the city.
Accompanying Sheikh Hamdan during the tour were the Director-General of the Abu Dhabi CPC, Jaber Mohammed Ghanem Al Suwaidi; Sultan bin Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Under-secretary of the Court of the Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region; and Ahmed Matar Al Dhaheri, Director of Ruler’s Representative Office of the Al Dhafra Region along with a number of top officials.
ADNOC has announced major development plans for Ruwais City, a 6.9 square kilometre community near the Ruwais Industrial Complex in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra region.
The project will see the city’s population nearly double over the next 15 years, as well as the creation of thousands of specialised, highly skilled jobs in parallel with ADNOC’s investment in its downstream operations.
