Ajman DED Discusses Investment Opportunities with Chinese Delegation

AJMAN, 13th November, 2018 – The Ajman Department of Economic Development, DED, received a Chinese investment delegation from the Liaocheng Municipality Committee, following the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, CPPCC.

The delegation, which was received by Ali Issa Al Nuaimi, Director-General of the DED, and local officials, included officials from the commercial office and economic and technological development zone of Liaocheng, as well as representatives of the private sector in the areas of solar energy, infrastructure and construction.

Al Nuaimi highlighted the importance of the visit, in the light of the developing economic and trade relations between the UAE and China, while noting that the UAE’s legislative environment provides a range of relevant facilitations.

He also noted Federal Law No. 19 for 2018 related to foreign investments, which has improved related legislation and regulate and support investments.

Al Nuaimi added that the department is keen to support foreign companies that desire to invest in the emirate while highlighting the integrated services provided by the department to investors, in light of the Ajman Vision 2021.

Al Nuaimi praised the presence of Chinese companies in the local retail sector and welcomed their expansion in other sectors, especially the clean energy sector.

The delegation noted that the UAE is China’s leading non-oil trading partner, and the bilateral trade between the two countries witnessed a growth of 18.5 percent, amounting to US$54.8 billion from 2013 to 2014, $55 billion in 2015, and over $46 billion in 2016. In 2017, China became the UAE’s leading trading partner, with their total non-oil trade amounting to over $53.3 billion, up by 15 percent from 2016, they added.
