At the ASEAN-India Commemorative Submit held in January 2018 at New Delhi, the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi identified Cooperation in the Maritime Domain as a defining area of cooperation under the ASEAN-India strategic partnership. India’s relations with ASEAN are today one of the cornerstones of our foreign policy and foundation of our ACT EAST Policy.
To carry forward this agenda, the National maritime Foundation (NMF) is conducting a ‘Regional Maritime Safety Conference and Exhibition – 2019 (RMSC-2019)’ with the theme – ‘Maritime Safety Assurance in the India-ASEAN Sub Region’ in coordination with Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Shipping and Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries on 19 and 20 February 2019 at Mumbai. ASEAN today is India’s fourth largest trading partner and we are ASEAN’s seventh largest trading partners. Therefore, the Regional Maritime Safety Conference and Exhibition – 2019 (RMSC-2019) would aim to create robust platform for engagement of various stakeholders, including subject matter experts and academia from India Government and Private Parties with East Asian Countries representatives. A central element of this conference-cum-exhibition entails focusing upon developing cooperative mechanism for arriving at common vessel inspection standards, combating environmental disaster and port safety standards, etc to encourage larger maritime cooperation and trade.
